Working Here
We look forward to you joining Duke Raleigh Hospital, where we work together to bring extraordinary care to the community and the patients we serve. In preparation for the start of your career with us, we hope you will review information about your first few weeks as a new team member.
1Before You Begin
Review your offer letter and new hire paperwork from the Duke Raleigh Hospital Human Resources Department. This will include your start date. At this time, you will also receive a link in your e-mail from Infomart to complete a background check.
Duke Raleigh Hospital team members are required to pass a drug screen and provide proof of immunity to several communicable diseases prior to the start of employment.
2Your Onboarding Appointment
Our Human Resources Department will contact you to schedule your appointment with Employee Occupational Health & Wellness, located at 3301 Benson Drive, Suite 201, Raleigh, NC 27609. Please park in a free visitor marked parking space in the front of the building.
At your appointment you’ll meet with a nurse from Employee Occupational Health & Wellness as well as a member of the Human Resources team to finalize your new hire paperwork and receive a welcome gift. Come prepared to smile for your badge photo!
Please note: As part of our COVID-19 safety protocols, you will be required to pass a health screening in order to enter the suite and begin your appointment. These screenings require you to sanitize your hands, have your temperature checked, put on a mask, and answer questions about symptoms of illness and exposure risks prior to continuing to your appointment. Know that team members that interact with you will also be masked. If you are feeling ill, have a fever, cough, cold or flu-like symptoms, or you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days, please call us to reschedule your onboarding appointment.
3Your First Day at Duke Raleigh Hospital
During our COVID-19 response, we have made our General Hospital Orientation a virtual experience via our Learning Management System (LMS) and Occupational and Environmental Safety Office (OESO). You must complete these virtual modules during your first week of employment. You will receive communication from the Duke Raleigh Hospital Human Resources team with instructions to complete these modules.
4Remaining Orientation Expectations
Clinical Education will contact all nursing and nursing support team members for a virtual Nursing Orientation that will occur the remainder of the week (Tuesday to Thursday). Additional modules will be assigned based on job duties, including any certifications and trainings.
5Your First 30 Days
Take the time to familiarize yourself with your work location on campus and where to park. On the main hospital campus, you will park on levels three and above in the P1 or P2 Parking Garages.
