Occ Summary

A Central Sterile Processing Technician, Non-Cert ified is responsiblefor cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and high-le vel disinfection ofall reusable medical instrumentation. Maintains high standardsconsistency and continuousproduct flow between the OR and Ster ileProcessing. Responsible for maintaining adequate supply levels inster ile storage area, rotating stock as appropriate pulling case cartsfor th e daily surgical schedule.


Work Performed

Cleans, dec ontaminates, assembles, and disinfects scope trays andequipment followin g established tray lists and manufacture'srecommendations.Maintains comm unication with customers and departments regardingrequests and delivery of sterile supplies.Promotes best practice by demonstrating a commitment to quality patientcare.Performs assigned duties to maintain unit in a s tate of survey readinessand maintain quality initiatives. For example qu ality control measures,emergency equipment checks, and department cleanliness.Uses the computerized instrument tracking system in the performanc e ofassigned duties, obtaining instrument count sheets, obtaining specia lhandling instructions for instrumentation documenting sterilizationload s, and other assigned tasks.Adheresto unit programs to support patient care such as maintaining aquiet environment and customer service.Efficie nt and punctual distribution of case carts, equipment, and statsupplies to the OR and Maintain sterility and or cleanliness accordingto hospital protocol.Maintain accurate log for equipment out for repair.Tests opera tional efficiency of Instrumentation prior to reprocessingand reports pr oblems to appropriate leadership.Maintains a clean and orderly central p rocessing area (e.g. shelves,counters, equipment)Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Employees hired before 2/18/19 are not required to have high school diploma or equivalent.


Experience

Previous experience working in a healthcare environment preferred. Working knowledge of computer required. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and care/cleaning strongly preferred; knowledge of sterile techniques preferred.


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Certification in Sterile Processing and/or Technology required within 2 years of hire date -CSPDT (CBSPD) or CRCST (IAHCSMM). Employees hired before 2/18/2019 are not required to obtain certification.
