Perform under supervision a variety of techni calduties related to thepreparing and dispensing of drugs according to s tandard procedure.
Prepare intravenou sadmixtures or other sterile products (includingchemotherapy and parente ral nutrition).Fill physicianorders/prescriptions, medication carts, or stockrequisitions.Deliver medications and supplies to patient careand an cillary areas.Answer telephones and directs calls toappropriate personne l.Enter charges and credits for patientmedications.Entermedication order s/prescriptions into thepharmacy computer system.Provide technical suppo rt forautomated equipment (Pyxis Robotics).Maintain logs, records andoth er required documentation. File documentation in the appropriatelocation .Complete and document all assigned medication storagearea inspections a t least monthly. Identify and replace outdated andunusable drugs.Monitor assigned quality improvement indicatorsof individual or departmental per formance.Stock medications andsupplies; package medications as requiredf ordispensing.Perform other related duties incidental to workdescribedher ein.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge ofdru g names, basic math, medical terminology, basiccomputer skills.Ability t o compound medications and admixintravenous products including antineopl astic drugs under thesupervisionof a pharmacist.Ability to work rotatin gshifts.Ability to establish and maintain effective workingrelationships .
High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program. or Acceptance intopharmacy school. or High school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or health care related experience.
IV aseptic technique experience and working knowledge of USP797 strongly preferred.
Experience with Omnicell automated drug cabinets preferred.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Must be eligible for registry withthe NC Board of Pharmacy
