Occ Summary

Perform under supervision a variety of tec hnicalduties related to thepreparing and dispensing of drugs according t o standard procedure.

Work Performed

Prepare intrave nousadmixtures or other sterile products (includingchemotherapy and pare nteral nutrition).Fill physicianorders/prescriptions, medication carts, orstockrequisitions.Deliver medications and supplies to patient careand ancillary areas.Answer telephones and directs calls toappropriate personnel.Enter charges and credits for patientmedications.Enter medication or ders/prescriptions into thepharmacy computer system.Provide technical su pport forautomated equipment (Pyxis Robotics).Maintain logs, records and other required documentation. File documentation in the appropriatelocat ion.Complete and document all assigned medication storagearea inspection sat least monthly. Identify and replace outdated andunusable drugs.Monit orassigned quality improvement indicatorsof individual or departmental p erformance.Stock medications andsupplies; package medications as require dfordispensing.Perform other related duties incidental to workdescribedh erein.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge ofd rug names, basic math, medical terminology, basiccomputer skills.Ability to compound medications and admixintravenous products including antineop lastic drugs under thesupervision of apharmacist.Ability to work rotati ngshifts.Ability to establish and maintain effective workingrelationship s.

Minimum Qualifications


High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program. or Acceptance into pharmacy school. or High school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or health care related experience.
