Develop, improve, or restore skills in acti vitiesof daily living, workor productive activities and play or leisure. Intervention involvestherapeutic use of meaningful and purposeful occup ations, adaptation ofenvironments, promotion of health and wellness, gra dedtasks andactivities as prerequisites to engagement in occupations, de sign,fabrication, application or training in the use of assistive techno logyor orthotic/prosthetic devices, application of physical agent modali tiesand application of ergonomic principles to the performance ofoccupat ions. Serve as aresource person for theteam and department;participates inorientation of new staff therapists,physicians andother health personn el. The senior participates in teaching activitiesfor occupational thera py and other health related students.
See departmental criteria for clinical ladder advancement eligibility.De monstrate and articulate sound clinical reasoning in synthesizingcomplex evaluation data identifying diagnosis and developing acomprehensive plan of care.Develop and update appropriate plan of care in collaboration wit h thepatient/family and related to the person's age and lifestyle withme asurable long and short term goalsand a defined D/C plan.Understand the role of occupational therapy in the context of thepatient's age, totaln eeds perspective and environment.Select and administer appropriateasses sment and treatment techniques.Perform age appropriate competency skillsin area of practiceand withrespect to individual patient's problems.Fol low intervention protocols and revise interventions appropriately.Discha rge patient when goals have been met or medical necessity is nolongerind icated.Establish provisions for continuing services/follow up as needed. Meet competency skills for evaluations in area of practice.Consistently meet patient care productivity standard as established forjob classifica tion.Work cooperatively with supervisors and peers to contribute totheov erall productivity of the team.Utilize support personnel (aides, senior aides, assistants) asappropriate and available.Actively support and part icipate in patient coverage efforts across alldivisions within thedepart ment as necessary.Assess the learningneeds and capabilities of patients and caregivers.Initiate patient andfamily education in a timelymanner relative toage, LOS, readiness to learn, and emotional status.Utilizeapp ropriate methods and materials for effective learning,monitoring respons e to education, and adapting program appropriately.Ensure thatpatient/fa mily understands when and how to access furtherintervention.Patientcare documentation is timely, legible, and efficient.Documentationis concise, pertinent and meets the professions anddepartments documentation standa rds.Oral reporting is clear, concise, relevant, and timely.Performall re quired data collection for the department accurately andwithin expected time frame.Peer review standards are consistently met.Collaborateeffecti vely with other members of the health care team.Take one to two students for short-term clinical rotation.Adjust supervisory techniques for indi vidual students' needs.Provide in-services on clinical educationattended .Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. p>

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy required, with Master's degree preferred.
None beyond required education, although more experience may be preferred at times.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Current Occupational Therapy license in North Carolina.
