Duke Raleigh Hospital offers the latest in care and technology in a patient-friendly setting. It has been an important part of Duke Health since 1998 and has served Wake County for more than 35 years, employing more than 1,300 people.The hospital provides 186 inpatient beds and a comprehensive array of services, including the Duke Raleigh Cancer Center, Duke Raleigh Orthopedic and Spine Center, cardiovascular services, neurosciences including the Duke Raleigh Skull Base and Cerebrovascular Center, advanced digestive care, disease management and prevention, wound healing, outpatient imaging, intensive and progressive care, pain clinic, same-day surgery, emergency department and community outreach and education programs. In fiscal year2018, Duke Raleigh Hospital admitted 9,484 patients and had 230,957 outpatient visits in fiscal year 2017.

Occ Summary

Independently plan and provide professional nu rsipolicies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to patients and fami lieng care for patients inaccordance with physician orders and establish eds inaccordance with the scope ofthe RN as defined by the North Caroli naBoard of Nursing.Nurses hired into this limited benefited classificati onwill commit towork a minimum number of hours in a designated inpatient nursingdepartment. Compensation is a flat rate that is based on years of experience.


Work Performed

Plan, provide, supervise a nd document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing process for p atients in accordance with physicianorders and established policies andp rocedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of thepatient's baseline needs and response to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed andu nlicensed care providers.Assist other nursing personnel in the deliveryo f nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group of pati ents or an entire unitas assigned.Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment ofcare including equipment and material res ources.Participate in own professional development by maintaining requir edcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriateassist ance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor and support the developme nt of other staff and formallearners.Participate in the identificationof clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities and inperf ormance improvement activities.Perform other related duties incidental t o the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.


Experience

Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
