Occ Summary

Supervise clinical operations of specific areas o f the ImagingDepartment including, but not limited to: equipment, person nel,scheduling, financial and customer service functions.

Wo rk Performed

Supervise and participate in complex technical activ ities associatedwith the operation of modality-specific equipment in spe cific areas ofthe Imaging Department in accordance with prescribed safet y procedures.Plan and schedule work for the assigned unit ensuring prope rdistribution of assignments and adequate staffing, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.Schedule patients for imaging exami nations; set up and explain imagingprocedures; position patients for eac h anatomical view specified usingpositioning assistance devices and prot ective equipment as required;report any changes in patient's condition t o attending physician.Perform limited evaluation of imaging examinations in order to determinethe need for additional projections.Assist in the formulation and revision of technique charts and/orprotocols to maintain established standards of image quality and/ormaintenance of ALARA.Revie w and compile as needed statistical reports and analyses reflectingopera tional activities.Provide technicalassistance, instruction and consulta tion to studentsand employees. Recommend various personnel actions inclu ding, but notlimited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, tra nsfers, andvacation schedules.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications


Work requires successful completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program and American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registry or Association of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).


Four years of experience in an accredited imaging modality (Radiologic Tech, MR, CT, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Sonography, Interventional Radiology) is required. Two years of team leader or applicable supervisory experience is also required in addition to the 4 years of tech experience.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Certification as prescribed by ARRT, ARDMS, and/or NMTCB. BLS certification
