Occ Summary

Perform journeyman level installation, repair, assembly and personnel. maintenance of water, sewage, drainage, air, gas and vacuum systems and related equipment and facilities in accordance with pertinent state and local codes; provide technical guidance and direction to lower level

Work Performed

Install, connect and test plumbing fixtures such as urinals, water incidental to the work described herein. Perform other related duties closets, wash basins, sinks and drinking fountains, compressed air fixtures, and such gas fired equipment as heat furnaces, boilers, and processing tanks. Monitor and troubleshoot major plumbing breakdowns by diagnosing trouble, and repairing, replacing or taking other corrective action of such items as clogged main sewer lines, main gas line breakdown, steam equipment and devices and fire sprinkling systems. Install and maintain sterilizers, stills, washers, glasswashers, institutional kitchen equipment, operating room tables, swimming pool facilities, mixing valves, water softeners, grease pits and special equipment. Determine routing of pipe and location of such plumbing fixtures, accessories and equipment as inlets, vent pipes, valves, meters gauges, hangers, brackets and water, sewer, gas and air connections by following and adhering to trade practice specifications, blueprints, sketches and codes. Indicate lines and points on walls, floors, ceiling and open areas or set stakes to locate pipe routes, inlets, outlets, connections, fixtures and equipment; prepare working sketch as required. Check, service, clean and connect oxygen, nitrous oxide and suction regulators. Follow a predetermined schedule of preventive maintenance. Provide technical guidance anddirection to lower level personnel.

Minimum Qualifications


Work requires an educational background normally equivalent to high school with course work in skilled crafts or trades training.


Work requires 4 years of experience in the installation and repair of plumbing systems and fixtures. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Work requires city Plumber's license.
