Occ Summary

Provide physical therapy services to patients /clients who haveimpairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or c hanges inphysical function and health status resulting from injury, dise ase, orother causes; provide prevention and wellness services, including screenings and health promotion. The senior serves as a resource personf orthe team and the department: participates in orientation of newstaff t herapists, physicians and other health personnel. The seniorparticipates in teaching activities for physical therapy and otherhealthrelated stu dents. The physical therapist works within practiceguidelines as defined by North Carolina state law.

Duties a ndResponsibilities of this Level: See Departmental criteriafor each dut ylisted, and Departmental criteria for clinical ladder.Physical Therapis tDemonstrate & articulate sound clinical reasoning in synthesizingcomple x evaluation data identifying diagnosis and developing acomprehensive plan of care.Develop and update appropriate plan of care in collaborationw ith thepatient/family and related to the person’s age and lifestyle wit hmeasurable long and short term goals and a defined D/C planUnderstandth e role of physical therapy in the context of the patient’sage, total nee ds perspective and environmentPerform age appropriate competency skills in area of practice and withrespect to individual patient’s problems.Fol low intervention protocols and alter plan of care appropriately.Discharge patient when goals have been met or medical necessity is nolonger warr ants intervention.Establish provisions for continuing services/followup as needed.Meet competency skills for evaluations in area of practice.Con sistently meet patient care productivity standard as established forjob classification.Work cooperatively with supervisors and peers to contribu te to theoverall productivity of the team.Utilize support personnel (aid es, sr aides, assistants) as appropriateand available.Actively support a nd participate in patient coverage efforts across alldivisions withinthe department as necessary.Assess the learning needs and capabilitiesof pa tients and caregivers.Initiate patient and family education in a timely manner relative toage, LOS, readiness to learn, and emotional status.Uti lize appropriate methods and materials for effective learning,monitoring responseto education, and adapting program appropriately.Ensure that pa tient/family understands when and how to access furtherintervention.Pati ent care documentation is timely, legible, and efficient.Documentation i s concise, pertinent and meets the professions anddepartments documentat ion standards.Oral reporting is clear, concise, relevant, and timely.Per form all required data collection for the department accurately andwithi n expected time frame.Peer review standards are consistently met.Provide clinical education experiences for students as requested bysupervisor a nd established by CCCETake 1-2 students for long term clinical rotation (Therapist of > 1yrexperience).Adjust supervisory techniques for individ ual student’s needs.Provide outreach and learning activities as requeste d which may include:in-services onrelated topics, generating referrals, interacting withvolunteers or visitors.Participate in data collection f or research activities to enhanceclinical outcomes.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Bachelor's degree or certification in physical therapy, with Master's or Clinical Doctorate in physical therapy preferred.


Experience

None beyond required education, although more experience may be preferred at times.


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Current Physical Therapist license in North Carolina
